In my head, all Heidis are aged 40-50. There surely aren't many baby Heidis or old Heidis in the UK. At 41, the former Sugababe Heidi falls within that Range. Her strong Scouse accent (at least to my ears) wouldn't mark her out as posh, mind - though I expect she is by Liverpool standards.

I take credit for the Greens' surge (asking my friend to back them). FWIW, it's because Hackney De Bauvoir came in - an area of Green strength for over two years.

Heidi was originally a pet form of Heidrun but took on a life of its own. Like Robert and Robin, or Nicholas and Colin. Some Robins are still called Robert at birth, like Robin Cook.

I think it's a posh name - I once knew a Heidi Bartholomew (a posh blonde girl). It's originally the Swiss diminutive of Adelheid, aka Adelaide, or at least it was in the book. It seems very uncommon in Germany now, as does the similar but unrelated name Heike.

Names don't get much worse than that, except of course Stephanie which is the pits of all possible names!

Robin is a really soppy name to give to a boy, like Hilary, Cedric or Nigel. The recipient starts out on life to a huge disadvantage. And, Yes, I do take names seriously and wish more parents did. Yes, looking at those using Zak, Chelsea, Rudyard, Flower or Cherry.

Is Carlton associated with alcohol? Do you think it is my actual name?

Is Carlton associated with alcohol? Do you think it is my actual name? Paul McCartney had an Auntie Gin who gets a mention in his song "Someone's Knocking At The Door". It is not particularly unusual for girls (mainly in the past I think) to be named Sherry or Brandy. But not Lager, Ale or Special Brew.

The only Heidi I new was a bit like that. She owned a lot of Reebok, Adidas and Nike and wore it often. Mostly scrubbed up well for prom but then we all did.

there were 2 Heidis in the 2015-7 parliament, but one of them does have partly German heritage.

There's a Heike sitting next to me right now! I would guess over 50, but then you are in Switzerland, and the fact she's not called Vreni or Regula is enough of a shock!
