it hadn't occurred to me that the Ealing Southall of today would have at any time since WWII been notionally Conservative, but it's logical enough.

Monty Panesar standing for the Workers Party. His fellow candidates should be advised not to stand below him if he is in a balcony

No idea. He has also recently been seen at Carrow Road watching Norwich, and being paid to play club cricket in Norfolk.

Monty Panesar comes from Luton - why Southall? I presume because he's Sikh, and Ealing Southall has the highest proportion of Sikhs in any constituency (although at only 19% of total population).

According to an interview Panasar gave. He thinks being a member of NATO is the reason for illegal immigration. He admits to never having voted in any election. . Galloway and he deserve each other. Not sure the people of Southall have done anything so bad as to deserve him.

Probability = 1/4 that he will be WPB candidate in Ealing Southall in the general election 1/4 that he will be deselected 1/4 that he will deselect himself 1/4 that he will mess up in somehow not getting nominated properly

Well, thank you for confirming that you don't follow cricket. There is an alternative reality in which, maybe, he might have been,* but not this one. *Though as the disastrous candidacy of Ted Dexter at Cardiff South East in 1964 reminds us: not necessarily.

It might provide a useful guide to how well frivolous booliacks perform here

The Workers Party doesn't seem to be in the habit of picking up many celebrity endorsements and doesn't have the style of politics that would make that easy. So if it was Green or Labour then perhaps it would be rubbish. But it's the Workers Party.

It's a very safe seat (Southall), a few hundred votes? Even if he is the candidate, so what?

It's a very safe seat (Southall), a few hundred votes? Even if he is the candidate, so what? I wasn’t speculating on anything to do with the number of votes he would get. Obviously he (and most WPB candidates) will / would get only a minimal number of votes anyway (c. 200 each). I was speculating about the whetherornotness of him being a candidate at all. The same also applies to hundreds of others.
