To be fair to aargauer, when the infamous (for being a very bad judge! not for being particularly evil) Judge Arabin in the 19th century said "I know the people of Uxbridge well", he didn't mean he knew every single one of them personally, which even in those days when Uxbridge had a much lower population than it does today would have been quite a feat. He meant that he knew ABOUT the people of Uxbridge and their habits, although what he then said suggested that he was not entirely correct in this; he suggested that they were such thieves (yes, all of them apparently) that "they will steal the very teeth out of your mouth as you walk down the street".
