Neil Hudson MP picked as Conservative candidate - likely a beneficiary of having been defeated in the selection for his much more vulnerable successor seat of Penrith and Solway.

I remember Neil Hudson from the Hustings for Edinburgh South in 2010. Appreciating a lot can have changed in 14 years, but I wonder how good a fit he is for the current Conservative party and for this seat.

That is a surprising omission. Shared Ground appears to be the Young People's Party rebranded while the Independent, Ed Pond seems to be SDP-ish in inclination

Shared Ground appears to be the Young People's Party rebranded while the Independent, Ed Pond seems to be SDP-ish in inclination I am very surprised we have no candidate here - we've had someone selected for a couple of years. Don't know if there was a problem with nomination pack or whatever, but in the absence of a candidate I would happily vote for Ed Pond if I lived there.

If the Tories are down to 20 seats, I'm fairly sure this and neighbouring Broxbourne will be two of them.

Given what happened in Gavin Williamson's patch, some may wonder if a degree of dirty tricks was involved.

Leaflet from Ed Pond: electionleaflets.org/leaflets/20673/I think he may be the son of Chris Pond, ex-House of Commons Library research chief who is now leader of the Loughton Residents' Association group of councillors.
