Didn't think I'd see a leaflet with Clegg on it this election!

I wonder if LibDems can regain this under a hypothetically unpopular Labour government in 2029 or beyond. Will be looking closely at their vote share.

It'll be interesting to see if the Greens can make some inroads here too.
2024 council election result in this constituency: Labour 11,715 (43.0%); Green 6,356 (23.3%); Lib Dem 5,813 (21.3%); Conservative 3,467 (12.7%)

In local elections the Lib Dem vote has dropped significantly the last few years. But this is likely a constituency where their manifesto is well received.

The core Lib Dem anti-Labour message “will say anything and doesn’t have a plan” is an almost direct lift from Sunak. I’ve been intrigued by this focus on a “plan”. I’m not sure what it actually means in this context. All the parties have manifestos (or a “contract” as Reform has chosen to describe theirs). I wouldn’t say any of them demonstrate a plan in the military or business sense of the word. I assume the use of the word is intended to suggest that those saying it know what they are doing?

Imagine having the audacity to attack labour from the left on one side of a leaflet and asking Tories to vote LibDem to prevent a Labour victory on the other…

It's probably focus grouping or door stepping well if the Lib Dems have picked it up, although as you say they clearly aren't plans - and that's not what you should be offering for five years of governing a country

Imagine having the audacity to attack labour from the left on one side of a leaflet and asking Tories to vote LibDem to prevent a Labour victory on the other… Broadly the norm I'd guess in what is now a fairly unusual constituency. If I were a local Tory I'd be unimpressed by a call for a tactical vote but it has worked in the past (Tory voters were part of the winning coalition in 2005). But that was then...

More from the Lib Dems. I'm avoiding Big 5 leaflet (particularly Big 3 ones) unless there's something odd about this. This is the first leaflet to talk about being closer to the EU: electionleaflets.org/leaflets/19445/
