The Guardian has been here. I didn’t know that The Park area is now in this constituency, probably the only relatively affluent area here and I can imagine quite champagne socialisty. Despite the article’s title I think Whittome is quite in tune with the area and if there is any pro-Green swing or any Labour apathy in these kind of inner city areas (though Nottingham is no Bristol by any means yet!) she may help minimise that. Imagine if it was still Chris Leslie… www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/jul/02/little-faith-in-politics-young-people-nottingham-east-election

But, yes, it does seem to become a bit more up market as you east.

But, yes, it does seem to become a bit more up market as you east. It is like many urban seats, a combination of student heavy areas, grim inner city areas and fairly prosperous suburbs, Mapperley in particular is very well to do. The eastern suburbs would have gone very heavily for Michael Knowles in 1983 and 1987 and the Tories were still competitive there at local level until the early 2000s. However they are very much the kind of suburbs that have swung heavily against the Tories in recent times, lots of public sector workers, university staff, etc.
