The bookmakers are going to have a field day with this by-election, at any rate. I notice that George Galloway is already favourite.

Ladbrokes don't have this one up. I don't know if they did before all the latest shenanigans

No idea who I would voted for but if it looked like there was a serious prospect of a Lib Dem win I would vote for whoever I thought was best placed to beat them.

There is certainly a serious prospect on this forum. However, it is pleasing to see that all the candidates have garnered at least one vote.

Blank ballot paper
What I will add is that I expect turnout to be as low as the calibre of candidates on offer

I was tempted to vote Galloway for hell of it and to help Labour in its travail to a better place and make no mistake it is a bitter and difficult path that Starmer is doing rather well with. But this is a fantasy vote and not a real one so I shall attempt to do what in fact I would do if there and I have decided on Reform after all.

George Galloway without a doubt. If I was choosing a dictator to run the UK, then certainly I wouldn't want him, but -along with Nigel Farage- he is one of the best speakers we have today. If he is supporting a cause you agree with, he is someone you want on your side. (If I recall correctly, forfar conservative posted a video of him attacking Scottish Nationalism.) Even if you disagree with him, he is still challenging. By contrast, if I was popping to the shop to buy a loaf of bread and I saw Sunak or Starmer across the road giving a speech, I wouldn't deviate from my path by a single inch.

He’s good at stringing words together but he is an antisemitic bastard and an apologist for some of the most murderous regimes in the world. And I mean someone who totally supports them , not just the right of the state in question to exist. On top of that his rape apologism re Naz Shah was unforgivable. He is a disgusting individual and that is why I would be forced to vote for a party I never would normally vote for to stop him. I greatly regret that there are people here who think he is acceptable.

Yes he is a "good orator" - but so was Horatio Bottomley.
There are certainly other parallels as well, though regrettably GG's career hasn't ended in the same way (there is still time, though)

Given I know Iain, the Lib Dem quiet well and admire his hard work I will go with him.
He is massively in the lead on our poll. Can’t wait for it to be turned into a bar chart on a leaflet.
“Polling Wizards vote for Iain”

Looks like a good argument for PR 🤭

A Lib Dem in the real world would have hilarious consequences, with all of the careful strategic focus on a core few dozen target seats being jettisoned by wildly-enthused activists returning to places such as Manchester Withington that they once held in a politically-distant past.

Looks like a good argument for PR 🤭 You really want to have to rank this lot in order of preference?

Looks like a good argument for PR 🤭 You really want to have to rank this lot in order of preference? Bit like a big class in an agricultural show. Top 2 or 3 and bottom 2 or 3 obvious - only problem in the middle.

Well, I am a tribal Lib Dem, so would of course vote Lib Dem here. The only party I might possibly give a tactical vote anywhere would be for Labour in Brighton Pavilion.

If we assume that the Lib Dems Seig Heiling was ironic he may merit a top-two slot along with the anonymous Tory. I would like the Green to elaborate on the views that got him deselected.
I would still not vote for him. I would just like to hear him elaborate on his views.

Looks like a good argument for PR 🤭 There is NEVER a good argument for PR. Only confusion, envy and brain fade.
