Tricky to call, this one, especially with this election using FPTP for the first time next year and the substantial differences in support for each of Labour, Conservative and Plaid Cymru across North Wales. But on balance Labour should hold.

If it is a stand alone poll with no general election on the same day, then there is quite a differential turnout rates east to west. Flintshire and Wrexham will have miniscule turnouts compared with Gwynedd and Ynys Mon. Might sway it a bit towards Plaid Turnout here has been 14.8%, 41.6% and 46% in the three elections to date. The first one was the only stand alone poll. UK wide turnout at that poll was 15.1% so basically the same. I wonder if we could see turnout here and elsewhere in Wales tick slightly up? Maybe towards the giddy heights of 20%? What’s the police force in England with the lowest level of local elections in 2024 (after Devon and Cornwall)? Could overall turnout tick up slightly with Labour voters who are angry at the Tories or with pissed off ex Torries wanting to give them a kicking? Even residents in Wales will know an election is coming due to the London centric media (especially with a high profile contest in London). As we’re discussing Wales, I don’t think the 20mph limit or indeed the police’s enforcement (or lack of) will be an issue in April/May

Dunbobbin is reselected for Labour. Lisa Goodier for Plaid Cymru It appears that Ann Griffith is now the Plaid Cymru candidate. Can't find the reason for the change. Griffith is a former Deputy Commissioner for the Area, and was candidate in 2021.

Dunbobbin is a great name that should have been inscribed on Robert Maxwell's gravestone.

Dunbobbin is a great name that should have been inscribed on Robert Maxwell's gravestone. I found out yesterday that the company that handles Terry Pratchett's estate is called Dunmanifestin.

I usually abstain from PCC elections as I dont think these roles should be politicised (as they are in America), because I dont want law enforcement to become a political ballgame (as it is in America). However, given that he's a member of the forum, I thought I'd make an exception, so I cast a vote today for trickyreturns If you win, I'll know where to come if I have police issues
