Labour candidate is Gary Godden. Worked in the police for 15 years and now he works in the NHS (as GMTS Leadership Development Senior Manager. Don't ask me what it is).

If there's been any kink in the process, everyone will want to be like the Liberal Democrat in this contest.

I'm a bit surprised not to see Ben Bradley's name listed here. He runs for every other elected office in Nottinghamshire.

It would mean he would have to stand down as an MP immediately he was elected.

Looks like it will be a spoiled ballot from me. I would have been open to voting Labour but their candidate's current employment is a major red flag.

Results (%) of the 2023 local elections in this force area - apply all due caveats:
Con 28 Lab 41 LD 8 GP 6 Oths 17
Labour gain appears likely although there must be uncertainty about where the large Other vote (Zadroznists in Ashfield, Mansfield Independents you know where) goes.

Results by district. Some huge swings from Conservative to Labour, the largest being 18% in Bassetlaw. The Lib Dems increased their vote in every district.

Clean sweep for Labour there, unlike the East Mids mayoral election when Bradley carried Newark/Sherwood.
