2021 (byelection): Con - 34,385 (39.5%) Lab - 18,094 (20.8%) Ind - 14,988 (17.2%) LD - 9,499 (10.9%) WEP - 8,837 (10.2%)
Second round: Con - 41,760 (60.8%) Lab - 26,895 (39.2%)
In 2021 Con won by 10.9% over Lab in the first round and 22% in the second. In 2016 Con won by 14.1% over Lab in the first round and 18.4% in the second. In 2012 Con won outright in the first round (there were only two candidates) by 16.5% over Lab.

s.32 of the draft York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority Order confirms that (once approved) the separate PCC role will be scrapped from May 2024 and no election is to take place.
