Nobody cares. Not even the Police or Criminals of Liverpool
So in an effort to drive traffic, I ask this question. When did the wider UK public begin to dislike Liverpool as a very concept and Liverpool FC in particular to a significant and clearly observable extent and more importantly why?

I remember learning a little ditty when I was at primary school going "In the Liverpool slums ..." That was rural Worcestershire about 1970.

When did Private Eye begin using the term Murkeyside? 1995? Dooley later got struck off as a solicitor, following a case where his office was bugged by police. Nothing to do with this case. He was later accused of some dodgy dealing with a Wayne Rooney transfer- Roy Evans was his brother in law.

Nobody cares. Not even the Police or Criminals of Liverpool I suppose that Emily Spurrell cares. Possibly.

I asked this question out with the Forum and one suggestion was that it was Derek Hatton scuttled around in taxis delivering redundancy notices to his own workers.

Your input would be welcome. You would agree with me that there is a clear fashion and tolerance for disliking Liverpool, its not universal but it does exist. But why? And since when?

Liverpool is a fabulous city with a fascinating history. It has produced some of the best, and some of the worst, people I've ever encountered.
