Incumbent- Andrew Snowden, Labour. Slight typo there, Andrew is most definitely a Conservative! And as I've met him a couple of times I really should know that!

Results (%) of the 2023 local elections in this force area - apply all due caveats:
Con 33 Lab 43 LD 9 GP 7 Oths 7
(For some wards in Hyndburn and Rossendale, 2022 data is used).
Should be a reasonably comfortable Lab gain.

Labour win Wyre but not Pendle. Interesting how the Lib Dem and especially unmarked ballot had a correlation with, well⦠I discussed this with the teams in the central count in Blackburn - some thought that the '4BwD' Independents were putting out a strong 'Anyone but Labour' message in Blackburn asking their supporters to vote Lib Dem or blank, others thought that this message didn't extend to the PCC and that those voting Independent would vote Labour for PCC. The end result (Clive wins Blabkburn with Darwen but there's a very strong Lib Dem vote despite no visible Lib Dem campaign, and lots of blank ballots) suggests that some voted 'Anyone but Labour' and others stuck with Labour for PCC. Labour winning Wyre was definitely the result we celebrated most! J
