For the purposes of approximating total local election votes in certain constituencies, I have allocated the wards here as follows: Romsey & Southampton North: Bassett, Swaythling Southampton Itchen: Bargate, Bitterne Park, Harefield, Peartree, Sholing, Thornhill, Woolston Southampton Test: Banister & Polygon, Bevois, Coxford, Freemantle, Millbrook, Portswood, Redbridge, Shirley There is an "interesting" division of Banister & Polygon ward between Test and Itchen constituencies - the two parts within Test only join at a crossroads. Romsey & Southampton North: Bassett, SwaythlingBoth these wards also have a polling district each in Southampton Test. Also, there is 1 property in Bitterne Park that is in R&SN. Thanks, Sharon, but I am just approximating using whole wards, not going down to that level.

Knowing where the boundary of Bitterne Park ward changed there's a non-zero chance the inhabitant of that one property is a goose.

I won't be updating results as they come in, as I won't be at the count - I lost my Dad last Saturday.

Keep the good memories close and the ones that make you laugh even closer, whilst you celebrate the life that was his.
Thinking of you.

I have to say as a Swaythling local, though currently away from the ward, I am surprised by that result (perhaps for the reason given). Commiserations to Sharon at a difficult time - I don't believe the result will be any reflection of your long service.
Conservatives also gained Woolston. The incumbent was not a very well-known face but my first thought was 'is it about the bridge', referring to the Itchen Bridge closure.

Commiserations to Sharon.
But just looking through those results, looks like the Tory vote has held up reasonably. Is there a reason why the administration is unpopular?

Perhaps the misfortune in Swaythling is that it lies within the Romsey & Southampton North parliamentary constituency and so the Lib Dems have concentrated their resources both here and in Bassett the other city ward contained in R&SN.
