Tiger Patel, former Conservative, now Independent, has got backing from George Galloway.
The responses below aren't perhaps as helpful as he might have hoped.

The independent in Darwen East is Paul Browne, a veteran Lib Dem who supposedly retired last year but evidently couldn't resist a comeback. Elsewhere in Darwen as well as Blackburn the Lib Dems seem to have dropped off the map. It's most unlikely that ex-Cllr Browne has any connection with the Asian independent slate.

Only 70 people had voted on my estate by 6.30pm. Ar the polling station in my Parish Centre at Audley Range, it was double that, but a steady stream now and likely more after the evening prayers at the 3 mosques around us. Just seen a worker for the local Independent going in. Been lots of old-fashioned speakers on cars-type campaignimg. Lots of.mention of Gaza and little else.

The numbers voting are really very healthy for a local election here in the Audley and Queens Park, the polling station staff (one a former presiding officer) are surprised. Not seen any evidence of the Labour candidate around, but lots of workers for the Independent. I think Labour could be in trouble here, even though their candidate is a well-respected former councillor and Mayor, Faryad Hussain. Tiger Patel decided to decamp and so this should be a Labour gain in normal times.

240 voted at the Parish Centre whoch, given a high number of postal votes expected, is significant. The polling erk was very annoyed with the Independent candidate's campaign team for constantly being at the door, not telling but campaigning.

First 8 counts in Blackburn have Labour losing to Gaza-campaigning Independents. Absolute disaster for Labour, but it was obvious from what I could see happening in my Parish Centre polling station yesterday. The local candidate who won in Audley and Queens Park I now recognise as the guy who kept popping into the polling station and it will have been him who she had problems with.

Con hold: Livesey with Pleasington Worth pointing out that Audley and Queen's Park is usually a safe Labour seat which was won by Tiger Patel in 2021 - he moved himself across to Little Harwood and Whitebirk as an Independent.

Amazingly, thanks to 2 gains from the Tories, Labour retain control of the council by 1 seat.

Yes but most of the councillors for Gaza, here and elsewhere, will be clueless, and simply let Labour run the council. So it won't make any practical difference.

Another good set of results for Labour where they were fighting the Tories, but the Blackburn seat looks vulnerable at the general election.
