I suppose the closest precedent to this kind of thing is Phil Piratin gaining Mile End from Labour in 1945. I'm not sure it counts for very much though in a very different electorate 80 years later.

That was my thought too. But also things are even more volatile now (1997 started the process) and if anything Labour are more dull and centrist than in 1997. Blair had something about him that Starmer doesn't and there are also more significant threats to Labour from the left (as there are to the Tories to the right) than there were then. So while Labour ought to be favourites it's going to be a tough fight.
