NOC - Tories decimated; remote chance of getting kicked off the council.
Liberal Democrats to make reasonable gains, labour make 1 or 2, Greens make 1 or 2
Overall Greens largest group but NOC.

This is going to be an interesting one. Not much confidence in the Labour Party, and not much confidence in the Greens in some areas too. Lib Dems, likely to be the big winners especially as there are likely to be big gains. Westbury-on-Trym will be their key target to get all three, Cotham and the regain of Hotwells likely as well. Could be beneficials of an "anti-vote" against Green and Labour (even Tories). As for the Tories....I think if he stands again Richard Eddy will keep his seat, but I can see him being their last man standing along with the Stoke Bishop and Stockwood two.

time was when Westbury-on-Trym was an impregnable Tory fortress, one which "struck fear in the hearts of the Labour Party" as I think Robert Waller wrote in a past constituency profile.

It has been merged with a bit of Henleaze now. Westbury itself, without that merger, would still be fairly good for the Tories, but not a fortress. On my recent visit there Wimbledon village reminded me of Westbury on Trym.

Bristol is of course moving to the committee system following these elections, so which party comes out on time makes less difference than usual. Having said that, I'd expect Greens narrowly on top.

Westbury on Trym, unlike Wimbledon Village or Edgbaston in Birmingham, does not contain a famous sports ground.

Helen Holland will retire at next election. She was first elected in 1991. The new Labour candidate in Hartcliffe and Withywood will be Kirsty Hammond, alongside councillors Kerry Bailes and Paul Goggin.

Craig Cheney (Hillfrieds Cllr, Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Finance, Governance & Performance) will stand down next year. Hillfields branch have reselected Cllr Ellie King while the new candidate will be Kelvin Blake (former Cllr in Filwood in late 90s/early 00s)

Why would you stand a Barton House resident & campaigner (Lawrence Hill ward) in Eastville

that's a fairly weird story "The community union Acorn says Mr Ali no longer has an elected role with them and is simply a member.
Their statement goes on to say: "Theft of fire alarms would be really bad (sic) because it would have made residents less safe." No really?

www.bristol.gov.uk/files/documents/7448-notice-of-election-agentsNotice of agents for each candidate in each ward. Full slates for Lab, Lib, Grn and Cons. Two SDP one each in Hengrove and Whitchurch Park and Frome Vale. Two Knowle Community Party candidate in...Knowle. I assume the rest are TUSC and maybe the odd Independent / Reform. Interesting sidenote: four of the candidates are called 'Brown' in Hengrove and Whitchurch Park. Three of them the Tory ones.

I see that Abdul Malik is standing for the Greens in Ashley. After being a Lib Dem cllr in Easton, then jumping ship to Labour when the L.Dems sank some years ago. Where next, although his ambition is to be Lord Mayor......

Chris Orlik in Knowle for one. Knowle should be interesting to watch, to see how Mr Hopkins fares this time round.

Fairly sure it is the same, I’m in Bristol for the campaign launch today so I’ll ask. Chris Orlik must be well into his 70s, must be 20 yrs since he last stood 😯
