Amusingly, one of the Lib Dem winners in 2004 and the UKIP winner in 2008 were the same person

Amusingly, one of the Lib Dem winners in 2004 and the UKIP winner in 2008 were the same person Malcolm Davis? Joined the Tories just after that. Now lives in Ross-on-Wye I believe. A decent chap from what I remember but it's been quite a while.

Just took a look at the candidate addresses for Isle of Wight: Linda Pitcher (Vectis) shares an address with IoW UKIP, so I presume she's a former member/officer of the latter; and Ed Hopper (Con) has Wootton Bridge in his address, but he's not in the division, he lives the other side of Wootton Creek (still in the village).

So who is going to win in Bishopston & Ashley Down? Will Labour make a comeback or are Greens going to hold it?

Well, most of the times those results are not on their council websites anymore and Wikipedia is way more unreliable than you, so, anybody writing those profiles will use LEAP.

Been in St James this afternoon delivering a tabloid style leaflet, which unsurprisingly among other things made much of having won the Cradley by election a few weeks ago. Saw plenty of election address style Labour leaflets, nothing from anyone else.

They all counting on Thursday night indeed the Isle of Wight say they declare by 11.30 I hope that's a misquote for " we hope to declare by 11.30". I hate to think they can guarantee a time of declaration regardless of all eventualities- recounts storm and flood to be ignored, we must declare by 11.30.

Labour are doing well if they win the Dudley seat. The Green - Lab fight decides the largest party in Bristol, and may show if the Greens can compete in Bristol Central.

Well, given how much they won Bishopston & Ashley Down by in 2021 it would be a bad sign for the Bristol Greens if they actually lost it. But I think the big question regarding the Greens in Bristol Central is whether their local strength can be extended to a Westminster election, which a local by-election won't tell us much about, and anyway that ward is being moved to Bristol North West.
