2022: Lab 952, 930; Con 338, 338
None of the candidates have contested this ward or its predecessor before, but last May the Lib Dem candidate stood in Longbridge ward.
Current Council: Lab 49; Ind 1; 1 vacancy
GLOUCESTER DC; Westgate (Con resigned) Candidates: BAKER, Benjamin (OMRLP) HOWARD, Trevor (Labour) SHEEHY, Peter (Conservative) TRIMNELL, Rebecca Jane (Liberal Democrat) WHITE, Gill (Reform UK)
2021: Con 969, 814, 793; LD 666, 501, 465; Lab 477, 441, 430; Grn 239; Ind 59, 55, 30 2016: Con 905, 765, 679; Lab 406, 370; Grn 276; LD 210, 205, 186; TUSC 114
Rebecca Trimnell (LD) was their top candidate here in 2021 and also contested the Hempsted & Westgate county division on the same day. Also in 2021 Trevor Howard (Lab) stood in Barnwood (district) and Barnwood & Hucclecote (county) and Peter Sheehy (Con) in Kingsholm & Wotton (district and county)
Current Council: Con 22; LD 11; Lab 3; Ind 2; 1 vacancy
ISLE OF ANGLESEY UA; Aethwy (PC died) Candidates: GREEN, Steven Jake (Conservative) JACKSON, Sarah May (Liberal Democrat) JONES, Karl Richard (Labour) WILLIAMS, Sonia Elizabeth (Plaid Cymru)
2022: PC 1491, 1489, 1329; Lab 696; Con 372, 338, 310; Grn 350
This ward was (I think) unchanged in the recent boundary review. Previous results were: 2017: PC 1343, 1314, 1267; Ind 882; Lab 553, 505 2013: PC 1091, 1037, 712; Ind 762, 340, 177; LD 409, 361; UKIP 401; Con 189
Steven Green was the top placed Conservative last May, when Sonia Williams was the unsuccessful Plaid candidate in Canalbarth Mon.
Current Council: PC 20; Anglesey Ind 7 (incl 1 LD); Ind Grp 4; Lab 3; 1 vacancy

I am the agent for Joe Lynch, the Conservative candidate, for Heath in Barking & Dagenham so I won't be posting on that one here. Feel free to message me for any factual points (e.g. if the count is overnight or next day).
Aethwy on Anglesey contains a very famous village with a song all about the name:

Rebecca Trimnell was also our parliamentary candidate for Gloucester in 2019

Spent a few hours in Aethwy division just nine days ago as my father was visiting and I thought it'd be nice for him to make a return visit to Llanfairpwll over 60 years after my grandparents first took him there.
There wasn't yet any sign of an imminent hotly contested election campaign.

There wasn't yet any sign of an imminent hotly contested election campaign. I spent last weekend in Menai Bridge which is the largest town in the ward. No posters around but two election leaflets were delivered - one from Plaid Cymru and one Lib Dem Focws. I would expect Plaid to win quite easily.

Until last month I hadn't been to Llanfair PG since 2009, but I'd visited Menai Bridge more recently as it's more readily accessible from this side of the strait. Might venture back there before the by-election if the weather picks up. If I'd have known you were here, we could've set up our own little Somerset colony in this corner of North Wales. I believe the LD leaflet will have been called " Ffocws" BTW.

It looked like Focws to me but I could be wrong. My partner was running in the half marathon which left me to enjoy the delights of the Menai Straits. Sadly I failed to see a red squirrel yet again. I’ve never managed to see one on all my many visits to the area.

Sadly I failed to see a red squirrel yet again. I’ve never managed to see one on all my many visits to the area. There were some woods just inland when we used to go on holiday in the 1970’s and on once occasion my dad fluked a photograph of one holding a nut or something which had obviously been its lunch and the shell of which the bugger decided to drop straight onto my head!$

I’ve never managed to see one on all my many visits to the area. I have, but then again I've been up here on and off for nearly 15 years. Think I only got a photo of one once though. Had my father known there was a half-marathon on up here he wouldn't have been able to resist signing himself up for that.

There's an interesting* feature of Menai Bridge** the town and Menai Bridge the (now closed) railway station. Akin to Knighton. * Other adjectives are available. ** More generally known as Porthaethwy locally these days.

A young grey squirrel misjudged a jump and landed on my daughter's head a few years ago. The claws were quite painful!
