2004: Con 1787, 1767, 1727; Lab 1395, 1392, 1316; LD 897; Soc Alt 446
Conservative and TUSC candidates stood here in May. The Lib Dem stood here in 2016 and 2015 (Assuming Jamie, Jim and James Simpson are the same person).
I wonder what happened to the Green candidate here from 2010 and 2014-16? He might have some insights on this by-election
Current council: Lab 37; Con 14; Grn 1; No party 1; 1 vacancy
GWYNEDD UA; Llanuwchllyn (PC failed to return acceptance of office)
Candidates:
EVANS, Alan (Plaid Cymru)
WILLIAMS, Anne Margaret (Liberal Democrat)
2022: PC unopp
On old boundaries, the Plaid candidate was elected unopposed in 2017, 2012 and 2004. The only recent contested election was 2008 when the result was an Independent gain from Plaid: Ind 228, PC 198, Ind 77. The Independent elected then was the Plaid candidate elected in 2012, 2017 and this year. He goes again in the by-election.
Current Council: PC 43; Ind 23; Lib/Lab 2 (1 Lab, 1 LD); 1 vacancy
STOKE-ON-TRENT UA; Bentilee & Ubberley (Lab resigned)
Candidates:
BRIDGER, Matthew James (Conservative)
EDWARD, Sharon (City Independents)
WATKINS, Lynn Susan (Labour)
2019: Lab 528, 519; City Ind 357, 266; UKIP 354; For Britain 233; Con 143, 95
2015: Lab 1089, 1059; UKIP 1052, 902; City Ind 701, 617; British Voice 82
2011: Lab 849, 596; BNP 429; Ind 404, 330; Community Voice 231; LD 67
Sharon Edwards was the top City Independents candidate in 2019 and also stood in 2015.
Current Council: Con 22; Lab 12; City Ind 6; Ind 3; 1 vacancy
WEALDEN DC; Maresfield (Con resigned)
Candidates:
GALLEY, Helen Margaret (Conservative)
TYSH, Ian Michael (Green)
2019: Con 668; Grn 333; Lab 76
I’m guessing that Helen is related to/married to Roy GALLEY, who is the sitting Conservative county councillor for Maresfield & Buxted division and district councillor for the neighbouring ward to this one (Danehill & Fletching). Ian Tysh contested this ward for the Greens in 2019 and the county division last year.
Current Council: Con 28; LD 6; Ind Democrat 4; Grn 3; Ind Grp 3; 1 vacancy
Candidates:
ARTHUR, Des (Labour)
