What if Harold Wilson had lost his Huyton seat in 1955 or 1959?
His majorities were only 834 and 1,193 in 1950 and 1951, and Huyton remained marginal until 1964. In 1955 a 1.4% swing against him would have unseated him (in real life, Harold Wilson achieved a 1.4% swing to Labour, with his Conservative opponent then being Geraint Morgan, who served as MP for Denbigh from 1959 to 1983).
