Given that UKIP have claimed they'll have a full slate in West Sussex on May 2nd, it is surprising they've not managed to field a candidate here. Was talking to some LibDems at County Hall today about this one, and they're working on some local issues that are proving popular. Would be a bit amazing if they managed to overturn two 1000-vote majorities in a few weeks!

Andrew Teale's preview on English Elections: blog.englishelections.org.uk/2013/04/by-election-preview-18-april-2013.htmlAndrew will be ending the previews soon as he needs to go prepare for his Mastermind appearance. There will be no previews for the 2nd May by-elections as I'm already going to be busy enough, but I will be previewing the by-elections from 9th May onwards myself.

As I'm sure everyone is surely on tenter hooks for the result from down here in Sussex tonight, the Angmering count is happening this evening.

Parish Councils and their labyrinthine ways would make an excellent subject for a Ph.D. thesis. If I could re-write history I certainly wouldn't have spent so much time in a laboratory making new compounds of the lanthanides.......
