I doubt an early election would have occurred in that very unlikely scenario. Rory Stewart was much more moderate a Conservative MP than Boris Johnson.

Does Ruth Davidson stay Scots Tory leader? Is there a pro-IndyRef2 majority at Holyrood in 2021?

both I and the bcf read that as “Rod Stewart elected leader of the Tory party”, which would have been interesting

He admitted he failed to achieve very much when heh was a provincial governor in Iraq after the allied invasion, and I doubt that the warring tribes in the Conservative Party would have been any easier for him to bring peace to.

both I and the bcf read that as “Rod Stewart elected leader of the Tory party”, which would have been interesting He'd stand about as much chance with the membership as Florence of Belgravia. Realistically the only way that Flossie could have won is if there had been a coronation. And the result would have been a thumping Farageist win in whatever the next general election turned out to be.
