I've thought for a while that this forum should have a dedicated town/parish council elections thread, but in its current absence, it's worth noting here that the Upper Eden area of Cumbria voted in the country's first neighbourhood planning referendum yesterday.
A healthy 34% turnout voted in favour of adopting the Upper Eden Neighbourhood Plan as a material planning consideration. The vote was:
Yes - 1,310 (90.5%)
No - 138 (9.5%)
Hopefully, there'll be a lot more of these local votes as communities become more engaged in development policy within their community.
Now, about that new thread.......
