If Charles Stewart Parnell had never had the affair with Kitty O'Shea that caused his political downfall, which partly contributed to his early death aged only 45, things would have turned out very differently for Ireland in the 20th century and beyond. He would likely have secured Home Rule for all Ireland earlier than was actually achieved and also the partition of 1921 would likely never have occurred.
What do you think?

Katherine O'Shea, please. Katie to intimate friends. Never Kitty to anyone. (And note Parnell is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable, PAR-null, not Par-NELL)
Unlikely had Parnell lived that things would have turned out any different because the limiting factor was all in the UK Parliament - the Lords veto.

I suppose it just might have made Gladstone more likely to call an election over the veto of Home Rule by the Lords and meant the pro HR parties would have been a bit stronger going into the election but it seems unlikely overall that the results would have been radically different to the 1895 election
