National Assembly election, 21st February 2021:
Lao People’s Revolutionary Party 158 Independent 6 turnout 98.0%
The previous result in 2016 was LPRP 144 Ind 5
Election is by block voting: the voter votes for a block of candidates, and whichever block gets a plurality of the votes wins all the seats in the constituency. Constituencies have from 5 to 19 seats. There were 224 candidates for the 164 seats.

What I want to know is, were the winning independents on LPRP slates or did they let an independent slate win somewhere (and if so, was it in the same constituency as last time? Is the LPRP contesting it?) Given the electoral system there must have been additional slates of candidates in part of the country.

And was it as in the GDR, where making a cross on the paper was not needed and everyone, who went into the VotingBooth, was suspicious?

Wikipedia says there were 224 candidates for 164 seats, so there must have been at least some constituencies where there was a competitive election with more than one list. But presumably they were all approved by the LPRP and/or whatever “United Front” umbrella they have.
