It is entirely possible that the leaflets that were not delivered and doors that were not knocked by parties who chose to suspend their campaigns could end up changing the result of a number of council seats, given that the period in which this happened was just before the postal votes go out (our postal votes were sent out today). It's impossible to know how many seats this will affect (or, indeed, which seats). But it's almost certain that it will have some effect on the results.

More seriously, it's possible that Prince Philip's death now has sufficiently pulled public attention away from the Harry & Meghan related scandals and produced greater sympathy for the Queen and the institution of the monarchy and has downstream effects on the survival of the monarchy but, if we're being honest, the Queen's own death is will eclipse both by a factor of several hundred.

It's interesting but, to be honest, very implausible to consider what a Charles III + Widower Philip duo could do to public opinion but, he was ninety nine years old.

Also, as others have said, the brief suspension of campaigning might've had a small impact of the election but (and call me naive if it does defy the wisdom of those with more experience), it's hard to see this election affecting 2024 unless it's a shockingly strong result in a certain direction but that would also rule out the campaign suspensions making much of an impact.

If Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon had been born as the daughter of King George V, and if she didn’t have any younger brothers, and if she had therefore become Queen (regnant) in 1936 (instead of merely Queen consort), and if she had otherwise had the same life, then she would have broken Queen Victoria’s record as the UK’s longest-reigning monarch on 14th July 2000, i.e. 3 weeks before her 100th birthday. We would therefore now be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth III.

If the Duke hadn't died during an election campaign then we wouldn't have had the suspension of campaigning and we wouldn't have had the frustration of having to deal with complaints because Royal Mail insist on continuing to deliver already submitted mailed campaign material during suspensions.
