In Niger - or must i say: "Black"? - the RunOff was held last WeekEnd. Results of the Elec.Commission can be found here: www.ceniniger.org/2ndtour2021/...but only few municipalities are counted, as You can see. The contender of the governing party (a SI-member) is ahead - and was already in the first round (39% vs. 17% for his challenger, also of a "socialdem." party).

In Niger - or must i say: "Black"? Going way back, a fellow called Jack de Manio was once a popular voice on British radio, but he was accident-prone, given to announcing the time incorrectly, usually an hour ahead and causing listeners to sill their early morning tea. De Manio's career nearly crashed in 1956 when he was duty announcer for the BBC's Home Service. A major radio feature, The Land of the Niger, was broadcast worldwide to mark a Royal visit to Nigeria. Carelessly, he back-announced it as 'The Land of the Nigger'.There was outrage; he was immediately suspended and then returned to the General Overseas Service.
He was later one of the early presenters of the Today programme on R4. Much missed.

He made a record helping everyone to speak proper:

Yet, contrary to "niger"/"negroe", which is ostracized only by the idiots ignorant of Latin, the sounding of "ni gger" makes it really pejorative.

Don't think I've ever seen an election result in net votes per square mile before
