VV seems like it might be a cult of personality type party. Certainly to some extent. But then they have more than that: The tumultous antiSystem-party, the White Elephant in the room (what had formerly been PDK - with the same success). Perhaps their governing since they received 50% last spring has been so disillusional for their ex-supporters? Unfortunately i cannot find at wikipedia present-day OpinionPolls. VV has already lost 1 of its 3 mayors to a recovered PDK; their hope can be, that they are in many RunOffs, but in most of them it will probably be them vs. the rest. Mayors before&after 2017:  |

Mayoral RunOffs:  LVV and even more AAK underperformed, whereas PDK and especially LDK overperformed. Of course, it were elections on personalities in few entities, so we shouldn't read too much into it. |
