I'm going to work out some notional reults for the London constituencies, at least those for which I have created profiles - probably all of them. Because of ward boundary changes in all boroughs now since the current constituencies were created, they will be subject to a fair margin of error. I know there are other notional results out there but I havent't looked at these. Will do so after I've done mine as it will be interesting and useful to compare

But I will wait for Rallings and Thrasher, which is the ‘gold standard’.

I believe York Outer was an example from the fifth review The thing is where they were clearly wrong, not just in York Outer, but in Swindon South and Telford, you can see exactly why they were wrong.

I think its just 14 13 seats still without a thread, plus a few where the existing profile could do with serious improvement.
(have all the previously deleted profiles been replaced now?)

As I think I've mentioned before, and as the final Boundary Commission reports appear to be imminent ... ... I would like to propose that a new board be created within this section of the forum for an online Vote UK Almanac of British Politics: New Boundaries. This would not replace the work already done but supplement it and run in parallel. I would imagine it could be divided on the same regional basis. It may be possible simply to transfer, or rather duplicate threads for those constituencies with completely unchanged boundaries. However I would suggest revised or new entries for all other constituencies. Clearly I cannot, and would not like to, do all these myself. Therefore I am very much asking for opinions, favourable or otherwise, of this idea. Ideally I would hope that many of those who have made such valuable contributions already would be willing to undertake revised or new versions of their previous entries - I am sure some cutting and pasting will make the task less onerous - and that we might attract new contributors too. I know that bjornhattan has already prepared some statistics on new boundaries and hope we may be permitted to use these; it is generally believed there will be few further adjustments at the final report stage. I also hope that AdminSTB or one of his team also approve the idea, or a modified version, and say that it is technically feasible. My belief is that the next general election will take place on the new boundaries and is unlikely to occur until well into 2024, may even the autumn. Therefore this would keep on some occupation those who wish to take part in much appreciated endeavour for the next year or so; though it should not be as large a project as the existing Vote UK version. I would be delighted to moderate if again invited, but hope for more collaborative achievement, as as been so evident over the past three years plus! Over to the views of those essential collaborators ...

Many thanks, AdminSTB ! I'm not sure what you mean by a full set ... if you mean the names of the new constituencies, we expect the final Commission recommendations to be published probably by the end of this month, within five days anyway. However, what happened with the existing version was that the regions were created, then people added the thread for each seat as they did them. I think maybe that would be the best procedure again, so people can instantly see which seats have an entry, rather than have all the names there but with no content. Then if they wish, folk could look back at the existing sub forum and threads - or even start a 'new boundary' thread themselves. But maybe that's not what your query was ...

Over to the views of those essential collaborators ... Happy to update all the entries I made - and to discuss the demographic data as mine is not quite the same as yours. Much of the local government political data is now out of date as well as the census data. After a suitable pause I could also update a number of seats I am familiar with where the initial profile was done by someone else. You probably ought to PM everyone who did an original to see if they are willing to update.

Many thanks for all the responses, so far entirely positive! I think this will be a valuable and interesting project that will keep us busy for the next months, though not as onerous as the original Vote UK Almanac. John Chanin, your participation is extremely important and much appreciated. By all means enter demographics defined as you like, though I think I may add some based on the same criteria as used in the stats I have entered myself. This is to maintain continuity with the print Almanacs as well as direct comparison with the existing Vote UK version, and also to use the figures very kindly compiled by bjornhattan - I hope his 'like' in my post above means he is happy to continue to provide these stats from the 2021 census for the new-boundary constituencies. And yes, I agree, I shall PM all the original contributors as soon as the new sub board is up and running. In fact PM to me have started to arrive! batman, many thanks - I hope you mean you are ready to post your updated entries in the new threads when AdminSTB starts them! I will appreciate some other contributors getting off to a fast start, as I myself am occupied with public exam marking till mid July, which has to be my priority.

I should update that I have now PMd AdminSTB to ask if he could create a sub-board for Almanac New Boundaries, as he expressed himself willing, so when he has the time and opportunity to do that we can get cracking, I hope!

I've got most threads ready to go but have hit a technical snag which I've flagged to ProBoards. Hopefully they'll be up and running tomorrow.

OK folks, AdminSTB has kindly now put up the regional Vote UK Almanac New Boundary sub-boards! Many thanks. As before, contributors can start each individual new constituency thread, I would prefer with a seat profile (though in due course I may well add the statistics as previously). No rush, it would be better to do these as well as possible, and I think we have until well into 2024 before the General Election. I myself have to focus mainly on public exam marking for the next ten days or so, and will not be entering revised versions of many of the seats I previously did immediately (except perhaps for some with no or minimal boundary changes). But I do now intend to PM those who wrote the existing profiles to invite them to update, plus asking Pete Whitehead about his notional results and bjornhattan about more 2021 Census figures. I would like to thank in advance all who are willing to help this project!

Bit late to the discussion which occurred on the Holborn thread, but I just wanted to say that I’m fine with ‘duplicate’ profiles. I plan on doing, eventually, a number of North East profiles. If others wish to do a profile first then I’m fine with that, and by the same token I hope no one would take offence if I post a profile of a seat after theirs. I see this as a collaborative process where we often know and focus on different things and ultimately have a bit of fun learning about the political geography of our country. If there’s ever an ‘official’ guide of some sort then we can take the best bits from all profiles and comments posted.

I've completed the threads for the Hertfordshire seats (including two effectively new seats). I will continue with those Middlesex seats I previously did profiles for (most of which do not have major boundary changes so will only require some editing of the originals) - these cover parts of Hillingdon, Harrow and Barnet. I will also be happy to take on the Brent seats if the person who previously did those profiles does not, but am happy to cede Ealing to Barnaby

Happy to revise my profiles for the new boundaries (I've started with the easy pickings of unchanged Tooting) and any other seats that go unclaimed if I know the area well.
