That wouldn't make any difference unless the same happens on the right. There are certainly people who are free marketeer and class themselves as both socially and economically liberal. The Goldwater Republicans. But where are they now? Not able to operate in the Republican party any more. Yes, but the demographics of the US are not trending towards that group , economic leftists - social moderates (a lot of minority voters) are the group that grows. Unless those with socially liberal views can find a home in the Republican party and the issue doesn't end up being seen as left-right, the problem won't go away.

Chester County went to Romney in 2012 while Bucks hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988

Bush won it in 2000 but by 2020 it was Biden's best county in Texas

It has to be said the Americans do geekery better than us. It would be interesting to see this for UK MPs (do we even have any Willy Brandts left?) It's odd that he's used a dark blue for Helmut Schmidt though as I'd assumed the choice of colours for the others was non-coincidental

Happy Birthday Jimmy Carter
1976 was the last time several Northern California counties voted Democratic for president and the last time that San Francisco wasn't the Democrats' best county in the state

Im still confused on why the GOP collapsed in Metro Dallas & Austin but not metro Houston as both are very diverse.

2016 was the first election since the 1950s where Minnesota was more Republican than the rest of the USA. In 2020, it returned to voting to the left of the country due to dominance of the Twin Cities in elections in the state

Vermont sounding really ridiculous these days... Bernie Sanders having won first the House seat, and later a Senate seat, against both Republican and Democratic opponents.
