I didnt care for the title of the thread either; however if the question were rephrased as "What would happen in Johnson resigned" [which in effect is the same]
Presumably there would be a new leadership election, with Raab in temporary command [god help us] in the meantime!
I suppose the wider question is, who would those on the Blue team vote for , if they had a vote in the matter? Raab? Gove? Patel? Rees-Mogg? Hunt? [came 2nd last time, remember], Hancock? Grayling? [j/k] - and depending on who was chosen as leader, would there be any change in the Covid policy (in either direction?)

Much that I worry about Boris Johnson, the list of alternatives scares the shit out of me!

If and when Johnson goes the fact that Hunt was 2nd last time is irrelevant Firstly we have had a GE and 80 new electors Secondly Johnson has marginalised Hunt He is history cf: - Andrea Leadsom not winning in 2019
- David Davis not winning in 2016 or since
- Ken Clarke not winning in 2001/2003/2005 or since
- John Redwood not winning in 1997 or since
- Michael Heseltine not winning in 1995 or since
- Sir Anthony Meyer not winning in 1990 or since
- Sir Edward Heath not winning in 1989 or since
- Reginald Maudling not winning in 1975 or since
In fact, no runner-up in a Conservative leadership election has ever gone on to win, although it took Ken Clarke far too long to learn this. Perhaps he should have been pursued with a sousaphone...

In fairness, Clarke was unlucky - he probably would have won in ‘97 on the ‘01 rules, or in ‘01 on the ‘97 rules.

Many runners-up in Conservative leadership contests do not stand in subsequent Conservative leadership elections anyway.
