Nobody has touted the mononymous Gordon? Not the same, but the Labour candidate in Dudley (North I think) had the surname Dudley. Sadly voters were unconvinced with "Dudley for Dudley" and they lost massively. Hooley for Heeley was far more successful.

The proposed boundary changes add the Manor ward from Stockport. This is a Labour/Lib Dem marginal at the local level, probably fairly solid Labour in general elections. The main effect on the notional result is to increase the Labour share but this obviously means more tactical votes available to the Lib Dems so this can only be good for them Con | 23142 | 45.4% | LD | 18781 | 36.8% | Lab | 8562 | 16.8% | Grn | 384 | 0.8% | Oth | 145 | 0.3% | | | | Majority | 4361 | 8.5% |
