On August 8, the Texas Secretary of State said that the Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. independent petition is valid. This was Kennedy’s most difficult petition drive. The state required 113,151 valid signatures. Kennedy is the first independent presidential candidate to qualify in Texas since 2000, when Pat Buchanan qualified. However, back in 2000, the requirement was 56,117, slightly less than the 2024 requirement. The law has not changed, but Texas population has ballooned since 2000.

He's an "unassimilated German" apparently, even though his family arrived in the US decades before Drumpf's did.

The advice from GOP strategists is Carville's "It's the economy stupid". Their problem is that Trump doesn't take advice.

He's an "unassimilated German" apparently, even though his family arrived in the US decades before Drumpf's did. Why is it deemed quite acceptable to play at will with trite puerile names for Trump but universally frowned on to make such puerile usages for say Starmer or Thornberry? Why this tedious double standard? I am against these usages but I have stooped to them in the past. I shall eschew such behaviour in future.

However terms of affection are exempt, so Trumpkins or Trumpy-poo are acceptable

Probably because it’s turning the precedent set by Trump back at him, who, for example, spent more than five minutes of his speech at a rally in Montana last night “musing out loud” on the various pronounciations of Kamala before settling on “dumb”. It may be childish but it’s actually a clever campaign tactic as it’s known to get under his skin and it’s those moments when his mouth is prone to running five minutes ahead of his brain creating statements that can be used against him as part of the campaign. (Quite a few outlets here and in the US are coming to the conclusion that he’s increasingly irritated by his inability to come up with a name for Walz, whereas there were already signs with “crooked Josh Shapiro” ready to hand out at his Atlanta rally on Monday when Harris sneeped him by bypassing Shapiro).

It's pointless & silly to make fun of Trump's name or his German heritage. The point is to critique his policies & intentions.

which reminds me as a former shopkeeper; I often had American customers. If one asks you "is that saxophone on sale?" they mean "is it available at a January sales-type price", not "can I buy it for the price shown on the tag?".

538 has Harris ahead by 2.3 and rising. Electoral-vote has Harris leading 276-251 (AZ tied).
Ahem. It's happening (tm).

I am with you that it is childish, but would note that out of all proper politicians that I can think of, Trump is the only one who regularly stoops to such behaviour himself - e.g. "Lying Ted Cruz", and that was about a fellow Republican. Also, "Crooked Joe Biden", "Pocahontas" etc. etc. If anyone has it coming, it's him. And as a semi-serious point: one of the merits of Walz for the Democrats seems to be his ability to pay that back in kind.

Trump really wanted to beat Biden. He did not expect Harris running. He called her a “fucking bitch”. It’s online somewhere - I saw it. He’s flailing faced with Kamala Harris. She’s ahead in the rust belt.
I got insane odds on MI. ‘Twas just before Biden called time.
