Yesterday I spent an hour or so browsing through the candidates' statements and I watched perhaps about 15 or 20 of their 3-minute videos. The videos were particularly useful in judging what they were like as people - whether they were articulate, logical, intelligent, whether they could analyse and synthesise information well, or whether they were just rambling. One or two were up themselves and talked about their own career and CV, but without ever getting to the issues on the island.
Now I regret that I didn't look more systematically at all their videos, and didn't work out in a more detailed way how I would have voted. No doubt I would have done if I were living in Guernsey and voting in real life.
I wonder how much, or to what extent, they considered using STV - either at large, or with smaller constituencies?

The obvious electoral units would be the parishes, perhaps grouped in the case of the smaller ones (by population). For example you might group Torteval with St Pierre-du-Bois and St Saviour to form a SW Parishes unit, and Forest with St Martin and St Andrew to make up SE Parishes. The remainder are large enough to stand alone.
Sticking with 38 deputies, that would result in SW Parishes 4, SE Parishes 6, Castel 5, St Sampson 5, Vale 6, St Peter Port 12. Maybe consider dividing St Peter Port into 2 6-member units, then all are sizes that would work well using STV.

Who was the Policy and Resources member who lost their seat? And does anyone know why?

Does her middle name indicate some sort of exotic origin, or should that perhaps read 'Sandra James MBE'?

Ferbrache is still in charge, but the current administration (as it is) is taking a pasting on education in particular. He was even in the Guernsey Press last week asking the public to suggest ideas for saving money.

Funnily enough, the big debate there at the moment is whether to introduce a Good and Sales Tax.
