The winner also lives in the "metropolis" of Leverburgh and was clearly the Harris candidate. Of course he may just have run a competently organised campaign while the others just "stood". Who knows? 38% seems a reasonable turnout in the circumstances.

Polling Stations will be open from 7.00am to 10.00pm.

Additional hygiene measures will be in force at this By-Election:
• Electors are encouraged to wear face coverings and will be asked to maintain social distancing.
• Hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance to each polling station and on exit.
• Please leave the Polling Station as soon as you have cast your vote.
• Each Polling Station will have been deep cleaned, prior to Polling Day.
• Individual Ballot Pencils will be issued to each elector (electors may bring their own pencil/pen)
• Polling booths will be santitised after each elector has voted.
• Regular cleaning of door handles, light switches, corridor areas, etc will take place throughout the day.

I cannot however find any info on polling stations - how many and where.

As andrewteale said in his always excellent Preview there were four polling stations. According to the statutory notice on the council website they were located here: www.cne-siar.gov.uk/media/15816/situation-of-polling-places.pdf

It's unlikely to prove practical at peak times in a regular election.

So a free pencil for every voter? If that became a regular feature, I wouldn't be suprised if it slightly increased turnout. People love free stuff.

Thanks - I looked and could not find it! Perhaps not surprising that the Harris candidate won.
