Just noticed that the losing PNP candidate in Hanover East was former West Indies all-rounder, and current Chair of the Player’s Association, Wavell Hinds.

Landslide for a popular incumbent with a crap turnout. Reminiscent of a previous election over here.

As with a few other Caribbean countries, the "Labour" party in Jamaica is centre-right. Back to independence times, effectively all independence parties in the Caribbean came from a centre-left, left wing perspective. After independence they either split or a new party came into being either to their left or their right but regardless the names remained regardless of where they ended up on the spectrum. |

As with a few other Caribbean countries, the "Labour" party in Jamaica is centre-right. Initially all these parties in the ex-colonies were national socialists of some kind. As a 16/17-year-old i really read an endlessly long BookChapter on the parties in Jamaica, but it was very confusing and i soonly mixed them. |

Amongst the usual PNP strongholds lost are Kingston Central and P.J. Patterson's old fiefdom of Westmoreland Eastern.
