But my number one pick for a good read is:

I've got to get 45, 51, 79 and 83 to complete my Nuffield studies collection. Not read the Lloyd on 1880 - will have to look out for that

The Tanner is a superb book. If I remember rightly, he died very young. One of the best books on the period as a whole I think is Martin Pugh "The making of modern British politics" which covers 1867 to 1939
