The election of a President for Trinidad and Tobago is a very simple procedure lasting ten minutes or less. It is done by an Electoral College inside the country's parliamentary chamber.
Anthony Carmona, a senior judge and an independent, was elected yesterday to a 5-year term for this largely ceremonial role.

Now and again i have thought, that it is not a good idea, when parliaments (like Austria's LandTage aso.) have an even number of MPs.
2 days ago Tobago elected its 12 councillors and i was wondering, why no results were published since then. Well, a/the reason will have been a shock: It ended 6:6 (49.3%:49.5%) for the centre-left governing party (2017: 10 with 54.68%) and a regionalistic challenger (2; 30.96%). No idea, what will happen next.

No idea, what will happen next. Coming back to this, the former AG and author of the legislation creating the THA has said a) unless the two van agree to a power-sharing deal, there has to be a new election and b) if they can't agree on who to select as presiding officer, the THA is not properly constituted and therefore can't dissolve itself so there can't be another election. As the Trinidadian parliament has no authority over it, nobody else can either a) impose the required officers or b) dissolve it for them

Maybe all members could resign and there could be 12 by elections?

looks like there was some kind of deal to powershare until after a redistricting (with expansion to 15) and then dissolve?

No deal. The central government (/parliament) octroyed such a solution. Indeed the PDP claimed gerrymandering... if that was true then it backfired spectacularly.

The PDP is the new regionalist party.

'imposed'. Negatively connoted. I vaguely suspected it might not be an English word at all when I wrote that, but it turns out that, while the German word is imported from French, the French meaning is somewhat different.
