Shropshire Bishops Castle Ward Liberal Democrat Ruth Houghton 838 71% conservative 229 19% Labour 107 9% LD hold, fairly convincing. Not bad, I suppose. Always disappointing when your vote goes down to 71%

To my surprise its been more the predictions that got squeezed. Votes for Greens amount to 344 out of 2559 in the three wards they were present, a share of 13.44% versus 3.72% for my punt and 7.37% for the average of the other 11 predictions. They may have developed a new top-secret underground campa technique that doesn't get picked up by the search engines. Well, they got a vote % similar to the EU election in Wellingborough, and similar to a lot of wards in Kirklees where they did no campaigning on May 2nd. Very disappointing for Labour in a constituency they won in 1997 and held in 2001. Also for the Lib Dems currently polling 18% and getting 15% in Wellingborough in the EU election. Presumably the Indy mopped up the ABT vote that did not go Green. Greens seem to have taken Labour support in both Northants contests, which is interesting. Were they emphasising "stop Brexit" like LibDems, or more traditional stuff?

His Lordship's dignity can remain intact, thank goodness The Civil Contingencies Unit has stood down the planned evacuation of Bournemouth.

Where the Greens actually win they do pavement politics learned from the Lib Dems..
