Rather disappointed that they describe the .csv file as "Excel Spreadsheet". Is Parliament being sponsored by Microsoft??

No they just recognise that most normal people use Microsoft Office products and would best understand it expressed in that way But they're lying. It's *NOT* an Excel spreadsheet, it's a comma-separated-variables file, which, like *ANY* spreadsheet program, can be read with Excel. It's like calling a text document as a Word file, or calling a mobile phone as a Vodaphone handset, or calling a newsgroup a forum.

Yes I understand that but to 99.9999% of people it is an Excel spreadsheet and a good proportion of them wouldn't know what a CSV file is

Not in quite such a nice human-readable format as the commons one, but goes further back and includes candidate names.

Question of an ignorant foreigner: Where can the GE-results since 1919 on shire-level be found?

That's an incredible job Georg - thanks for sharing. I've started similar projects over the years but never completed

That's an incredible job Georg - thanks for sharing. I've started similar projects over the years but never completed Similar stuff should be done for my own country - we have now for the first time the results of all municipalities since 1927 (NSDAP!) and of all JuridicalDistricts since 1919 in workable EXCEL, incredibly much work is to do by us few, who are really interested -, but Greatest Britain came first, of course!

I am very sorry - i had to find out, that the honourable HoC-Library made mistakes: I found early enough out, that they put BishopAuckland into "Duham" and wrote several times "Surry". Yet, i didn't see, that Penrith&Borders is in 1974F+O+1979 not transferred to Cumberland, K.u.Hull-C 1979 not in Yorks, once also not York itself (!) and 1974O+1979 they have a total mess around Ipswich&Kingston-u.-Th. and Inverness&Kilmarnock (including the IoW aso.). I'll try to correct the numbers, but at least 1974O will take some time.

In 1979 most constituencies from Huntingdonshire to Kingston-u.-Th. are allocated to wrong counties®ions!
Someone should really compare each number. (Admittingly i myself have Craig copied and have every result of every party coloured, making it quite easy to compare them; but it would cost me weeks and i have presently lots of works to do for my small country - so, come on, Britons!)

The dataset seems to miss the electorate in the City of London seat in quite a few of the early years leaving that as the only GB seat with that information missing.
Are the figures just not available or there is another reason it is not there?
