Not so sure about that. Cameron was supposed to be giving a big speech on Europe before Christmas, but unless I missed it that's been postponed - perhaps because Boris deliberately got there first?
In any case, the Conservative leadership seems to be supremely unworried about bad polling. One wonders whether this will change as the election gets closer, or whether they just don't believe their position is as poor as the polls say.

Said speech has been promised for mid-January........
About the Tories not being worried by the polls, not so sure. I think quite a lot of it is bravado - especially now that real votes have backed the figures up.

Anyone know what's going on with Times/Populus polls? Do they just do one every few months now?

Populus just seem to do polling for Lord Ashcroft these days - maybe somebody might ask one of the Times political staff on Twitter what has happened to their surveys??

It's almost like the Times lost interest when they stopped being able to report favourable polls for the Conservatives.
But of course, that would only be true if they were absolute hacks.

confirmation that the Times have stopped this
Mike Smithson @msmithsonpb Sadly, I'm told, there'll be no more Populus phone polls in the Times. A big mistake by the new editor.

I never had Populus down as the most accurate polling organisation, but it is rather sad.
You never can tell when this sort of thing will happen. The Daily Telegraph stopped using Gallup in 2001 - the original pollsters - who then ceased to poll on voting intention in the UK after 60 years of doing so (although they had tended to overestimate Labour's position from 1987 onwards).

Whatever happened to the likes of Harris, Gallup and NOP?

I guess what The Daily Telegraph did a decade ago still remains justified for so many reasons..anyone to argue that?

Bugger!
I had a missed call on my mobile on Saturday, and I didn't recognise the number. I phoned back (it was an 0345 number) on my landline tonight and it turns out it was Populus!.
There goes my chance to boost the LDs' polling figures.
