Polling day today in Malawi. President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party, who has been in power since 2014, is running for re-election but is challenged by Vice-President Saulos Chilima who has set up his own party called United Transformation Movement. It may interest one member of the forum to know that Chilima has a PhD from that academic powerhouse the University of Bolton.
On polling day Chilima, who lives in Lilongwe, found that his electoral registration had been mysteriously transferred to Chizumulu Island - a small island in the middle of Lake Malawi with a population of around 4,000.

Looks like the Malawian judiciary has decided the result is invalid, and ordered the government to amend the law before the next one, so it can't be fixed.
