I would hope and expect all of them. Why bother what she thinks says or does. She has no power to do anything at all to any of them.. She has a very small and diminishing majority. She is heartily loathed by at least half the party who only want to hear one word from her ever again. RESIGN.

If they want rid of her that badly, all they have to do is pass the WA. An offensively stupid remark by a 'usual suspect'. Why is it stupid? If the WA passes, I am sure May will stand down and let the Tory party pick a leader more to the leavers' liking. The stupidity belongs to those who believe that mutually exclusive things can both happen.

Because it is analogous to a parent saying to a child 'You only have to eat that spinach you pretend to dislike and you can have your computer back'. It is your fault you are upset. Do it our way or suffer. Our way is the only way.
You are 'sure' she will then step down. Well are you? So glad you trust and believe a statement she made. Why would any such statement be any different from the serial pack of lies she has told for 1000 days.

I was thinking more about management style than the rights or wrongs of the direction being followed.
The head of an organisation or captain of a ship makes a decision ... if it appears a section of the staff/crew are opposed to the decision it is a problem, but a problem which has to be addressed. One can try to persuade, but if that fails and you are convinced your route is correct then the time has come to say to the dissident staff that we will be very sorry to see you go, etc.

Say May had gone for the nuclear option: Would it have split the party and caused a General Election or would the heros of the ERG have crumpled and passed the bill?
Imagine the Mail/Express headlines if she had won through in December "Iron Lady", "Not for Turning", "Tusk is Next", etc.
Looks like the ERG will probably come round to supporting May's WA sometime in the next month anyway ... but Theresa is finished whatever happens.

Oh well, evidently the ERG did not come round to May's WA. Instead of forcing the issue with the ERG she went towards Labour, presumably in order to get them to share the blame.
So it comes down to the pathetic performance of this morning and exit Theresa, not a moment too soon.
btw .... why wait until 7th June to resign, what on earth is she expecting to do between now and then?

This was about dragging things out as long as possible. Brady had a sealed envelope ready to open on 8th June on whether or not to hold another no confidence vote in spite of the rules. Had he done so (and the Guardian reports the Committee was in favour of this), she would have been out the next day. At least this way, she gets to cling on for the whole of the contest instead of having David Lidington stand in for her. I suppose she could have delayed her announcement and tried to get the WAB through in early June, but she may have realised that this is impossible and decided to end the bile early.

Looks more than ever that this is what she should have done .... and what the next leader of the party (whatever flavour) will have to do. When it happens it will either split the party and bring on a general election or it will pull the party together and allow normal government to resume.
