Now that's interesting. But what's the dominant religion in west New Guinea if it's not Islam?

Now that's interesting. But what's the dominant religion in west New Guinea if it's not Islam? The indigenous population is Christian and still in the majority despite a large influx of Muslim settlers.

Turns out that the Wallace Line also works (if very loosely) for Islam/Christianity hahaha.

Formal results won't be available for another few weeks (!) but officially authorised partial counts show a comfortable win, though no landslide, (on around 54-55%) for Widodo.

Can you do one for hinduism as well? I think there's a significant minority somewhere in there.

A slightly more detailed comment on these early trends (and it is important to stress the word 'early' there) now. Broadly speaking they point to an intensification of communal and sectarian polarisation. There has also clearly been a swing to Joko in and around the capital. It also seems that there has been a swing (perhaps a big one? Bit early to be sure, but he's on like 2/3rds in Sorong City right now. With only 3% counted, but...) to Prabo in some settler areas in the outlying parts of the empire. There's also definitely been a huge swing to Prabo amongst the Buginese people, though that's not exactly a surprise; Joko has a different running mate this time.

Mostly Bali, but also a few other places here and there. Am vaguely working on such a map. I am surprised there is such a high percentage of Christians for West Papua does this take account of the fact that many in the more rural areas are likely to be followers of "traditional" beliefs? Well the issue there - and also amongst the Batak people around Lake Toba in North Sumatra for instance - is that Christianity is much more flexible when it comes to the incorporation of traditional belief systems than Islam. And, of course, the Indonesian state ideology does not accept traditional belief systems as legitimate religions.

There has also clearly been a swing to Joko in and around the capital. In the end this turned out not to be so: things got better for Prabo there as counting progressed and the results were much the same as last time. What's odd is that elsewhere later counting was better for Joko: e.g. he pulled ahead in North Sumatra despite being clearly behind during the earlier stages of counting. Anyway, things are now mostly complete - at least for the Presidential poll. There are (amazingly) a few exceptions here and there, mostly in New Guinea. Indeed, one regency there has yet to report a single vote. Still. Enough done that maps can be justified.
