Why was Poroshenko so unpopular to lose by somewhat of a landslide? Was the winner gifted? Helps being the star of a popular tv show about a fictional president. You have people disillusioned with politicians and along comes your favourite fictional one. I'm sure there's a lot more to it, but it's nice having a populist who isn't a nob head. The Jed Bartlet effect. I think at one point if Martin Sheen had stood for election he'd have won with a landslide.

Willy Wonkashenko might not break 30% in a two-candidate race nationally, but he is apparently leading by miles around Lemberg, a fact that is presumably not entirely unrelated to the post above...
