Leaves the Tories very close to losing their majority. They won 43 councillors in 2021 and now have 38 (lost three by-elections and two defectors). 74-seat council. That doesn’t change their majority as he had already gone Independent. I think they still have 39.

Hampshire, Totton South & Marchwood (2025). David Harrison, Liberal Democrat to Green. The council website says so but I find that very unlikely and he is still listed as a Lib Dem on NFDC. He also has the most effective social media presence of any Lib Dem councillor I've ever come across and yet there is no indication of a party switch. Yes, have had it confirmed that this was incorrect - he remains a Liberal Democrat. Sorry all for the confusion - there must be some sort of bug in the moderngov system that causes these fictitious changes to appear.
Surrey Heath, Frimley Green (2027). Sashi Mylvagnam, Liberal Democrat to Independent.

Not long after the LibDems won a famous victory there at parliamentary level - you do have to wonder about people like this just a bit.

I wouldn't want to cast nasturtiums without knowing the given reasons for the defection.

Winsford is a weird place and this is just more evidence. Isn't it like a bit of Merseyside in the middle of Cheshire.

Winsford is a weird place and this is just more evidence. Isn't it like a bit of Merseyside in the middle of Cheshire. 1960s Liverpool overspill/ quasi new town/ massive industrial estate left a significant mark on the town. Fair to say the "indigenous" Winsfordians did not find it a comfortable experience.

I worked with a bloke once whose said he only had one piece of professional advice: "Never accept a gig in Winsford".
