It seems to have emerged in the last boundary review (2014-15) and is indeed named after him. www.lgbce.org.uk/sites/default/files/2023-04/ashfield_final_report.pdf makes it sufficiently clear that it is, although I can't find why exactly they decided to do so.

The proposed name is Larwood, which is a part of the cricketing history of Kirkby in Ashfield. Famous cricketer Harold Larwood was born and raised here and played for the local cricket club Kirkby Portland.

Thanks. I wonder if any other wards are named after cricketers. Certainly some roads are, for example in Uxbridge.

There is a Gatting Way & a Brearley Close by the cricket ground NE of the town centre (which has often been used for Middlesex home matches as an alternative to Lord's). They're definitely named after respectively Mike Gatting & Mike Brearley. There's also a Trumper Way near the town centre, which is part of a roundabout, but I'm not quite sure whether that's named after Australian cricketing legend Victor Trumper, and if it is, why.
