Hartlepool Councillor Jonathan Brash, Labour to Independent Labour. Something about treatment by the Mayor, Stephen Akers-Belcher, who has been sacked by Newcastle City Council for gross misconduct, but refuses to resign as mayor. Jonathan was on the Regional Labour Party Board with me until a couple of years ago and was a good member. He was shortlisted for Police Commissioner, but not supported by Hartlepool CLP. Is the mayor a monkey?

That's from May, has he rejoined and left again? And it is May 2013, to be even worse. Serves me right for not looking at the date of the article!

They are husband & wife, Jonathan Brash & Pamela Hargreaves. There are two elected Ukip councillors. Expect Ukip to come a good second in May.

There are a lot of similarities between Hartlepool and Heywood and Middleton in terms of demographics. Hartlepool has also had more than it's fair share of incompetent local leadership.

In Pembrokeshire, Cllr Alison Lee has been kicked out of the Labour Party - somewhat predictably - after she accepted a cabinet post. I think there'll be more comings and goings before the current crisis either dies down or becomes a whole new crisis.

When does the new council take office? Next May? Apparently they form a shadow council and take over on April 1 2015.

OK, thanks. Much like the unitaries elected in the late 90s. And similarly with all local authorities after the 1973 Local Government reorganization.

Paul Moss, deselected Labour councillor for North Reddish on Stockport Council, has announced he is to sit as an Independent, as he wishes to oppose building on Reddish Vale Park. I used to play on Reddish Vale and am opposed to any building on it and members of my family are in support of the campaign, but Cllr Moss's reasoning is, to say the least, disingenuous, given his recent deselection. Why didn't he quit before - this issue hase been hot for a while.

Councillor (allegedly) posts inappropriate material on Facebook. Party investigates and asks him to step aside from committee chair during investigation. He refuses, and resigns. I think the word is flounce?
