The defections sound like councillors defecting before they get deselected. Labour had 100% of the councillors here in 2010, along with Newham. Suspect labour are more likely to lose councillors in Barking and Dagenham in 2014 than in Newham. Maybe. Or perhaps the bad councillors have been deselected so Labour will take the seats with other candidates?

Baldwin seems to have been fairly bonkers.Barking CLP, which now contains whole swathes of Dagenham, has changed beyond all recognition and I think it has changed far too fast for the traditional working class in some parts of the middle of the borough. But demographics mean that only a very few losses can be foreseen.

Rob Boden - Kendal Underley, South Lakeland DC. LibDem to Independent, partly over the "bedroom tax".

If I had had an education as good as Erlend's, I would be earning enough money that I could afford to be a Lib Dem. Erland has spent a lot of his life working for the Lib Dems, which is definitely not the way to make a lot of money.

I do try to encourage the younger generation to move out of political employ eventually. For their own good. It may work for a singleton but not if you have partners/children. I doubt there is much party difference in this.

Too few chocolate bar puns, I'm afraid. I'm disappointed.

There's no need to force things. It's a Marathon, not a sprint.

He gave the conservatives a small boost, in Croydon, when he joined. I just thought, 'How Randoms'.

Lol. I recommend that he not be trusted. A pretty disastrous place to defect - not UKIP territory at all. Granted this is a bit more complicated than the other 4 - but even so he has clearly flirted with the kippers.
