The nine Labour rebels in Harrow are: Cllr Thayapara Idaikkadar (Roxeth ward, currently Council Leader) Cllr Krishna James (Marlborough ward) Cllr Husain Akhtar (Canons ward, elected as a Conservative) Cllr Asad Omar (Headstone South ward) Cllr Nana Asante (Edgware ward, currently Deputy Mayor) Cllr Zarina Khalid (Queensbury ward) Cllr Raj Ray (Roxeth ward) Cllr Nizam Ismail (Queensbury ward, currently Mayor) Cllr Mano Dharmarajah (Roxbourne ward) They are shown as such on the Harrow Council web site. Apparently Cllr Omar is the group's deputy leader. Breaking news. Cllr Raj Ray back in the Labour Group. The rebels now number eight. Quickest defection ever ?

Why would Labour want him back ? I would imagine so, it would make official Labour the largest group again at 26. The speed of Raj's redefection suggests, at the very least, little enthusiasm for the "Independent Labour" project.

and would expect more to 'come back' ? I could imagine that a couple of the others might feel they have been 'bounced' into the Independent group and may reconsider. Minds will be concentrated when it becomes clear that suspension from the Labour Party and almost certain expulsion will follow if they persist with this course.

Arthur Figgis to Conservative, apparrently... Would be fascinated to hear his reasons, given his stated view of Cameron and the Tory leadership

The entire Argyll and Bute SNP council group to Independent, allegedly. Surely not even the SNP are crazy enough to expel their whole council group in what is one of their top target seats for 2015! I imagine a strongly worded reprimand might follow, but stop short of expulsion!

Would be fascinated to hear his reasons, given his stated view of Cameron and the Tory leadership I think he rather supports the local party but not the national party. He has put it to me that he would like the Canadian model where he could be a member of the provincial party in Trois Rivieres but oppose the federal party

Whether or not some or all will later be readmitted is still unclear.

So let me get this right. You have moved to Bute but instead of you changing political party, the entire SNP group has changed allegiance to Independent?

I assume this is the SNP trying to disassociate themselves from the actions of the council group - what has it done?

They arranged a new coalition with the Lib Dems and Conservatives. Party HQ told them not to, they arranged it anyway. Party HQ then told them not to announce it under penalty of suspension, they announced it anyway.

I assume this is the SNP trying to disassociate themselves from the actions of the council group - what has it done? It's gone into a local coalition with the Lib Dems and the Tories, without clearing it with party HQ first. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-22480354

This seems to be more a technical pique at not getting the coalition rubber stamped rather than anything grand like objections to working with particular parties.
Is there a good list anywhere of which parties are in coalition where in Scotland? ISTR comment that every pairing of the largest four exists somewhere.
